During a press briefing at the Manassas Regional Airport on Monday, Marc Paganini, president of American Eurocopter and Steve Mundt, vice president of Business Development for EADS North American, highlighted the X3’s capabilities overall and how this technology could be specially adapted for the military market. The X3 team also gave a presentation on how the demonstrator works and how such high speeds have been made possible.
“We are extremely pleased to bring the X3 here to Washington, D.C.,” said Mr. Paganini. “This revolutionary new aircraft illustrates once again the Eurocopter Group’s pioneering role in developing innovative technology in line with the evolving demands of both our civil and military customers.”
Mr. Mundt touched on how the X3 technology will be perfectly adapted for military applications:
“When thinking about high-speed flight previously, speed meant having to give up the agility of a helicopter. But with the X3 this all changes. When high speed can be added to the range needed as battlefields continue to grow in size and distance, the total amount of aircraft needed can be reduced and mission efficiency will greatly increase.”
